Parents reminded to enroll children in kindergarten early for upcoming school year
In preparation for the start of the 2018-19 public school year on August 6, HIDOE reminds parents to plan ahead and enroll their children in kindergarten early. Kindergarten is mandatory in the State of Hawaii.

Five schools selected to open Pre-K classrooms in School Year 2018-19
The Executive Office on Early Learning has selected five new schools to open new public pre-kindergarten classrooms in the 2018-19 school year. A child’s early years are critical in establishing a strong foundation for education and research has shown that early childhood education sets the foundation for life-long learning and success.

Parents urged to enroll children for kindergarten
HIDOE reminds parents to plan ahead and enroll for kindergarten early. Children must be 5 years old on or before July 31 to enter kindergarten. Children who turn 5 on August 1 or later should enroll the following school year. Kindergarten is mandatory in the State of Hawaii.

2016 Graduation Dates
The Hawaii State Department of Education announced its 2016 graduation dates for 64 schools statewide including public charter schools. Ceremonies run throughout the month of May with more than 11,000 students anticipated to be walking in this year’s ceremonies.
