HONOLULU – ‘Tis the season
for giving and today all students at Kalihi Waena Elementary got a special
holiday gift of a new backpack in a generous donation from Primary Residential
Mortgage, Inc. (PRMI) Hawaii and the Kids in Need Foundation, at a school-wide assembly. All 470 students at the school received the
new backpacks, containing crayons, notebooks and other school supplies.
“This donation not only
impacts our students, but our entire school community from our teachers to our
parents,” said Principal Ronnie Victor. “Having school supplies allows our students to
be more organized and ready to learn, and this makes it easier for both our
teachers and students. We want to thank
PRMI Hawaii and our entire school community for making this possible.”
Although parents generally
purchase school supplies at the start of the school year, the need for some
items, like backpacks, varies with use and daily wear and tear. The new JanSport
backpacks were passed out to students by PRMI Hawaii's staff. The generous holiday donation covers the entire school enrollment of 470 students from preschool to grade 5.
"Our staff at PRMI was
so thrilled to see the excitement on the students' faces when they received
their backpacks and gifts," said PRMI Hawaii Regional Branch Manager
Nelson Oyadomari. "The spirit of
giving is so important in our community and we're very happy to be able to give
back to our keiki, especially during the holidays."
