Kaimiloa Elementary is committed to high-quality professional development and technical assistance for teachers to use best practices based on research.
Professional Learning Communities are focused on regular monitoring of assessment data, analysis of student work and subsequent adjustments made to teachers’ instruction. Weekly learning team sessions held across grade levels focus on developing teachers’ understanding of content standards, designing common assessments to measure students’ progress and in-depth analysis of student work to inform instruction. Teachers practice self-reflection and set goals for improving their teaching strategies.
Kaimiloa provides opportunities for students to participate in a variety activities and programs such as yearbook, track, basketball and video classes offered during after school Cougar Academies. Afterschool tutoring is provided for students needing assistance in reading and math.
