Kamakahelei Middle

About this school

At Kamakahelei Middle, learning is grounded on the Common Core State Standards with an emphasis on literacy across all content areas.

Staff employ instructional strategies that engage and motivate middle school learners. Critical to instruction is the balance of formative assessments that monitor daily student learning with summative assessments measuring achievement of the standards.

Exploratory programs and electives provide students with the opportunity to develop personal strengths, talents and interests. Interdisciplinary teaming and the Comprehensive Student Support System provide wraparound services for every child. An advisory program based on Hawaiian values develops students’ ability to respect and value diversity within our school and beyond, as well as interpersonal skills students need to live and work with others harmoniously.
