Kapa'a High

The Kapaa Way school structure

About this school

  • Strive HI profile: The Kapa'a Way Delivers [VIEW]

Kapaa High has smaller learning communities for all grade levels, including two freshmen hui, allowing a core group of teachers to serve common students. The initiative has led to improvements in a number of areas, including student attendance rates, academic growth, increased percentages of students promoted to grade 10 and a dramatic drop in discipline incidents. The focus of education here is stronger relationships, relevance and rigor.

The bell schedule provides additional support for students to meet diploma requirements and take credit acceleration and recovery courses. The new schedule also allows teachers to collaborate and receive strategic professional development.

Kapaa High continues to communicate and work closely with feeder schools to build a strong K-12 alignment.
