About this school
Kauai High School (KHS) focuses on preparing students to successfully pursue post-secondary education and/or careers. Our vision is to create a culture to educate, engage, and empower all to be successful. Our approach is to:
- Provide a challenging learning experience to reach all students;
- Embed 21st century skills;
- Accelerate literacy abilities;
- Assure all students are cared for and encouraged to grow.
Our Transition into KHS focuses on 9th grade interdisciplinary teams. In order to support students in their transition through adolescence and into high school, we work on common instructional strategies and teachers work in Personal Learning Communities to support student growth.
Our Progression through KHS focuses on providing diverse opportunities for students to explore, plan and prepare so that they graduate from high school ready to succeed. This includes foreign languages, music and art electives along with AVID classes, 7 different AP classes and 6 Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways as electives.
Our progression out of KHS focuses on providing students with college and career experiences while still in high school. KHS has expanded their early college classes, AP course selection, and CTE programs in STEM, tourism academy, health academy and business academy. Six Pathways and internship opportunities provide career focus.
