About this school
Students at Kauluwela Elementary are grouped for instruction according to achievement levels. Their progress is closely monitored through weekly and quarterly assessments. Data from these assessments help teachers develop and use diversified instructional strategies to meet student needs.
The school provides a daily afterschool program focused on math, reading and writing skills. Learning activities are extended into the fall, winter, spring and summer intercessions, with selected students invited to attend Learning Camps for additional instruction or for special projects in computer programs. During the half-day sessions, students work with at least three different teachers who are trained to focus on developing students' skills. Parent classes are also offered. Parents also participate in the School Community Council where school policies are discussed.
