Kawananakoa Middle is committed to ensuring students graduate college and career ready through a rigorous standards-based education. The school monitors achievement levels of all students and uses research-based interventions to best support areas of need.

Students have numerous extracurricular opportunities, including a math team, essay and poetry, arts and crafts, drama and band programs, and sports such as track and field, basketball, volleyball and soccer. The school continues to offer free afterschool, intercession and summer programs. During the summer, the school hosts an open kitchen to serve free breakfasts and lunches to all children within the community.

The school benefits from the strong support of the Parent Teacher Student Association and School Community Council.
