Pauoa Elementary uses data to inform instruction through data teams and formative instruction. Teachers identify struggling students and the skills they are lacking so they can adjust their instruction accordingly.
Pauoa Elementary and other Roosevelt Complex principals meet biweekly and curriculum coordinators meet monthly to align the initiatives of the elementary, middle and high schools.
The school practices inclusion to bridge the gap between general education and special education students. It also uses Advancement Via Individual Determination program to promote a college going culture. Pauoa Elementary provides many opportunities for students to learn and develop, such as Student Government, Bibliotechies, Morning Fitness, Science Showcase, Fine Arts Showcase, May Festival, Science Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Chorus, Robotics, among other programs.
