About this school
Pohakea Elementary has a comprehensive school reform program focused on early reading intervention. A daily tutoring program is also provided for selected students in grades 1-3 as part of the Success for All model.
Teachers deliver engaging, relevant lessons that demand higher level thinking skills. A rigorous, standards-based curriculum in mathematics focuses on both mastery of basic mathematical skills and conceptual understandings. For writing, teachers provide integrated writing lessons and monitor student progress through reviewing, analyzing, and scoring student work. Data Analysis continues to drive instruction and decision making for programming purposes.
The Community Council was established in 2005 and continues to be an integral part of reaching Pohakea Elementary's vision.
