Waiākea Elementary teaches students to become lifelong learners and contributing members of society.

The school focuses on mathematics and language arts while sustaining and improving systems for all other content areas. Special Education inclusion is practiced for grades 1–5, and instruction is aligned with the Common Core State Standards for all grades.

The Parent Teacher Organization holds fundraisers, monthly board meetings and general membership meetings, and hosts family activities. The School Community Council meets monthly with representation from administration, staff, parents, community members and students. Waiakea Elementary enjoys strong support from community and businesses.
