The Hawaii DOE solicited input on the Hawaii Consolidated State Plan to address federal funding under the Every Student Succeeds Act. The process was approved by the Board of Education on April 18, 2017. A public comment period was initiated with that approval, which closed on May 18, 2017.

ESSA public review

​The Board of Education approved the public comment process on the draft of Hawaii's Consolidated State Plan for federal funding under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) at its April 18, 2017 meeting. The 30-day public comment period is closed. The materials reviewed are posted below.

Strive HI 3.0

The ESSA plan impacts school accountability systems, but there is more to Hawaii's proposed updates to its accountability system (Strive HI) than just federal requirements. Much of it is driven by the updated Strategic Plan. In conjunction with the public comment period on the ESSA draft plan, a public comment period on the proposed Strive HI 3.0 system was also made available during the ESSA comment period. The public comment period is now closed. A draft of the proposed changes was presented to the Board on April 4, 2017.
