McKinley High Ignition Program
Creating a safe space for incoming freshmen
Initiatives like McKinley High's Ignition Program provide peer mentoring and support to ensure students succeed in 9th grade, which can be a challenging transition. These efforts statewide are paying off, with numbers of student misconduct offenses and suspensions dropping. STORY  

AVID TEACHES STUDENTS TO THRIVE UNDER PRESSURE
In 2004, Campbell High was the first public school in Hawaii to launch an AVID program. Since then, the school's program has expanded and is now in the top 1 percent of such schools nationwide. STORY  

WEIGHING IN ON 'REDESIGNING SCHOOLS'
