Mentoring of new teachers slashing turnover
Today, new teachers in Hawaii have access to orientations, professional development and weekly meetings with a trained instructional mentor. Turnover has dropped 13 points. "Mentoring is more than a program — it's a mindset, an approach to helping everyone grow." STORY  

WAIPAHU HIGH SCIENCE TEACHER WINS MILKEN AWARD
Michael Sana was presented the prestigious 2015-16 Milken Educator Award at a schoolwide assembly. Known as the "Oscar Award of Teaching," it honors outstanding excellence in teaching and comes with an unrestricted $25,000 cash prize. STORY
