3 HAWAI'I SCHOOLS NAMED TO NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON PROGRAM
Kalihi Uka, Mililani Uka and Pauoa elementary schools have been honored by the U.S. Department of Education based on academic performance and progress closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. LEARN MORE  


3 HAWAI'I DOE SCHOOL TEACHERS VYING FOR $100K GRANTS
Online votes through Nov. 3 will determine five winners from among 15 finalists nationwide in the Dream Big Teacher Challenge. Ryan Chatfield, Leimamo Lind-Strauss, and Zachary Morita are in the running. LEARN MORE  


UPDATES TO MISCONDUCT CODE APPROVED FOR HEARING
The Board of Education unanimously voted to send the revisions to the student misconduct code, known as Chapter 19, out for a public hearing. A new Chapter 89 code for student complaints against adults will also be reviewed. LEARN MORE  


OCTOBER'S HARVEST OF THE MONTH: 'ULU BEEF STEW
The 'Aina Pono program has launched its second year. Participating public schools statewide will be serving ‘Ulu Beef Stew. Create this delicious meal at home by following our recipe. LEARN MORE  


LOCAL FARMERS SOUGHT FOR PRODUCE IN STUDENT MEALS
Local farmers and vendors are invited to attend pre-bid meetings to get their questions answered about supplying fresh produce for student meals on their island, with an emphasis on locally grown fruits and vegetables. LEARN MORE
