In the June 2024 report to the Board of Education (BOE), Superintendent Keith Hayashi shared updates on the Department’s summer learning opportunities for students and staff and awards and recognitions for students, employees and schools.

In the June 2024 report to the Board of Education (BOE), Superintendent Keith Hayashi highlighted summer learning opportunities for students, noting that 245 schools, representing 95% of the Department’s campuses, are running summer programs this year.

The report also highlighted student summer internships for public school juniors and seniors. The Department offers internships in various fields such as agriculture, communications, health services, information technology, education and more.

Superintendent Hayashi also touched on personal development opportunities for staff this summer such as the Hōʻakea Teacher Day, Early Learning Conference and the School Administrative Services Assistants (SASA) Summit.

The report wrapped up congratulating the approximately 11,000 public school graduates from the Class of 2024. A recap video of commencement ceremonies across the state can be viewed here.
