In the October 2023 report to the Board of Education (BOE), Superintendent Keith Hayashi, Deputy Superintendent Tammi Oyadomari-Chun, and Dr. Kenneth Fink, director of the state Department of Health, shared updates regarding the reopening of Lāhainā schools for in-person learning. 

With staff and students back back on Lāhainā campuses for the first time since the August wildfires, Deputy Oyadomari-Chun provided updates on health and safety guidelines, Lāhainā campus air quality, Lāhainā school evacuation procedures, and a proposed U.S. Department of Education waiver. 

The following recognitions were also shared: 2024 Hawai‘i State Teacher of the Year, 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools and the American Academy of Nursing Edge Running Designation for Hawai‘i Keiki.
