Congratuations to the winners and contributors to the annual ‘Ōlelo Youth Exchange (YXC) video competition, which promotes student voices and perspectives around learning, health, the environment, and much more. An awards ceremony was held for finalists and winners April 27 at the Sheraton Waikiki. Top place winners earn a state-of-the-art Sony camcorder for their school.
Waianae schools took the top two prizes of the day — the Expert Award for:
- Junior Division (Waianae Intermediate, "A Home for Larenzo")
- Senior Division (Waianae High Searider Productions, "Waianae Strong," above).
The competition, organized annually by ‘Ōlelo Community Media, received 909 video entries from schools across the Islands — a record! The awards ceremony will air on ‘Ōlelo Channel 53 on May 18 (6 p.m.), May 22 (8 p.m.), May 23 (2:30 p.m.) and May 29 (10 p.m.)
