28-Apr-2016

Waianae public schools sweep the expert division and public schools win most top prizes in the annual event that aims to cultivate student voice, perspective, and storytelling.

Congratuations to the winners and contributors to the annual ‘Ōlelo Youth Exchange (YXC) video competition, which promotes student voices and perspectives around learning, health, the environment, and much more. An awards ceremony was held for finalists and winners April 27 at the Sheraton Waikiki. Top place winners earn a state-of-the-art Sony camcorder for their school.

Waianae schools took the top two prizes of the day — the Expert Award for:

  • Junior Division (Waianae Intermediate, "A Home for Larenzo")
  • Senior Division (Waianae High Searider Productions, "Waianae Strong," above).
