Out-of-state teacher recruitment schedule

Thank you for your interest in teaching at the Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE). We're seeking teachers for the 2017-18 school year and will be conducting out-of-state recruitment trips to the following cities.

​Recruitment trips​​ & hiring priorities

Thank you for your interest in employment with HIDOE. Our 2017 out-of-state recruitment will be conducted in various cities across the continental United States. Remaining dates:

  • Las Vegas, NV, July 10-13

The recruitment priorities for the 2017-2018 school year are as follows:


  1. Special Education (K-12)
  2. Secondary English, Secondary Mathematics, Secondary Science
  3. American Sign Language (ASL) Deaf Education Teachers and Auditory-Oral Deaf Education Teachers
  4. Willing to teach in hard-to-staff locations (Hawaii District: Kau, Keaau, and Pahoa complexes on the island of Hawaii; Maui District: Hana complex on the island of Maui, Island of Lanai, and Island of Molokai; Leeward District: Nanakuli and Waianae complexes on the island of Oahu) 
  5. Willing to teach in West Maui (Lahaina)


The Hawaii DOE will have personnel on hand to informally speak with and provide general information to prospective School Psychologist, Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, Behavioral Health Specialist, and Clinical Psychologist applicants.
