Out-of-state teacher recruitment schedule

Thank you for your interest in teaching at the Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE). Our 2016 out-of-state recruitment will be conducted in various cities across the U.S. Mainland in March and April.

Recruitment priorities​​​

The recruitment priorities for the 2016-17 school year are as follows:

  1. Special Education (K-12)
  2. Secondary English, Secondary Mathematics, Secondary Science
  3. American Sign Language (ASL) Deaf Education Teachers and Auditory-Oral Deaf Education Teachers
  4. Willing to teach in geographically isolated areas:
    • ​​Maui CountyHana, Maui; Island of Lanai; Island of Molokai
    • Hawaii Island: the Ka'u, Kea'au, and Pahoa complexes of the Big Island.

*** Please note Elementary Education is NOT a shortage area and is NOT a recruitment priority at this time.***
